Responsibilities of Estate Agents
Any estate agent who either rents out property or sells property where baboon troops are present has certain obligations to the buyer or lessee.
- The potential lessee or buyer of the property needs to be informed by the estate agent that baboons are present in the area and that raiding is possible. The buyer needs to be made aware of the requirements for waste management and baboon proofing expected in an area where baboons are present.
- The rental agreement needs to include the non-negotiable requirements for waste management and baboon proofing of the property. It is the responsibility of the property owner to ensure that the house is baboon proof and that a baboon proof bin is available to the tenant.
- All potential lessees and buyers need to be aware of the baboon management service provider in the area and who to phone for advice, assistance or in the event of an emergency.
- Anyone living in a baboon raiding area must have a double lockable baboon proof bin which should be padlocked at all times. How to apply for a baboon-proof bin
